Meet the Injectable Team

The injectable service sits inside the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center of Chongqing West District Hospital, a tertiary general hospital — with dermatology for skin disease and a surgical team for the cases an injectable cannot reach, all in the same building.

Specialist Profiles

The physicians behind the service

Ke He, MD

Ke He, MD (何锞)

Injectable Service Lead & Deputy Director · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Injectable aesthetics · facial assessment · vascular safety

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and leads its injectable aesthetics service at Chongqing West District Hospital. A core specialist formerly at the plastic surgery and aesthetics department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and aesthetic dermatology for more than 20 years, serving over ten thousand patients.

Her practice has always been non-surgical, and that is the point: she assesses the face at rest and in movement, decides which substance class — if any — actually reaches the problem, and owns the protocol when something goes wrong. She works alongside the Center’s surgical team when an operation is the honest answer, and alongside dermatology when the skin itself is the problem.

Clinical focus

  • Early scar prevention and repair: silicone, pressure, injection, and laser protocols
  • Pigment conditions: freckles, melasma, age spots, nevus of Ota, and post-inflammatory pigment
  • Acne and acne scarring; refined treatment of eyelid-margin moles, milia, and syringoma
  • Full-cycle anti-ageing skin management: barrier repair and non-surgical rejuvenation
  • Vascular conditions and full-cycle hair management

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Laser Medicine Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Facial Rejuvenation Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Chongqing Plastic Surgery Quality Control Center
  • Published 5 papers, holds 5 national patents, and introduced 2 new clinical techniques

Assessment decides the treatment

Two people can ask for the same change and need two different plans, because movement, volume, skin quality and laxity are four separate problems treated by four separate tools. When the answer is laxity, the honest recommendation is a surgical opinion rather than another syringe.

Tongchun Mao, MD

Tongchun Mao, MD (毛彤春)

Deputy Director · Surgical Aesthetics & Facial Refinement · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Surgical aesthetics · facial refinement · the surgical opinion

Dr. Tongchun Mao is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. A core specialist formerly at the plastic surgery and aesthetics department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, he has rooted his clinical practice for more than 20 years and personally performs over 700 operations a year.

Within the injectable service his role is the honest boundary: he assesses the faces that volume cannot correct, where laxity and excess skin are the real problem, and explains what an operation would and would not achieve. Patients who come for injectables and leave with a surgical opinion — or with the advice to wait — are getting the assessment they paid for.

Clinical focus

  • Detailed facial-feature refinement and repair (eyelid, nose, chin, lip)
  • Structural and cosmetic rhinoplasty, including revision of previous nasal surgery
  • Facial rejuvenation and surgical facial contouring
  • Aesthetic closure principles applied to dermatologic excisions
  • FUE hair transplantation and body contouring

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Rhinoplasty and Trunk Tumor Groups, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Chongqing Medical Aesthetics Quality Control Center; Member, Chongqing Medical Accident / Disability Assessment Expert Pools
  • Deputy Chair, Chongqing Shapingba District Medical Aesthetics Committee
  • Published 5 SCI papers, holds 7 national patents, and has participated in 4 research projects
  • Repeatedly named an "Outstanding Young Physician" at Xinqiao Hospital since joining in 2005

Volume is not a lift

Adding filler to a face that has lost skin elasticity makes it look heavier, not younger. When that is what the assessment shows, the useful conversation is surgical, and it is better held before the first syringe than after the tenth.

Shaoliang Wang, MD

Shaoliang Wang, MD (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Plastic surgery · correction · complex repair

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. He previously served as deputy chief of the plastic surgery and aesthetics department at Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, and brings more than two decades of tertiary-hospital surgical experience to his practice.

For the injectable service he is the backstop when a non-surgical route has failed or should never have been taken: permanent material that has to come out, a complication that needs a theatre, an infected or necrotic area that needs debridement, or a patient from elsewhere who needs a second opinion on what was injected. His judgement of when a plan should not proceed protects patients as much as his operating does.

Clinical focus

  • Surgical removal of skin tumors with margin control and layered cosmetic closure
  • Excision and repair of moles, cysts, and other superficial lesions
  • Scar revision and comprehensive scar management after burns and trauma
  • Repair of failed cosmetic operations (revision and reconstruction)
  • Complex wound repair and tertiary-hospital surgical support for dermatologic cases

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Craniofacial Surgery Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Deputy Chair, Chongqing Medical Aesthetics & Beauty Committee
  • Standing Committee Member, Chongqing Medical Doctor Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Expert Panel, Chongqing Medical Aesthetics Quality Control Center
  • Developed a new endoscope- and water-jet-assisted technique for removing injected polyacrylamide (Aomingding) breast filler; awarded the Wang Liangneng Cup Military Excellent Scientific Paper Award
  • Principal investigator on an international cooperation sub-project, a Chongqing Natural Science Foundation grant, and a Third Military Medical University technology-transfer project; published 4 SCI papers and holds 8 national invention patents

Removing what should not have been injected

Permanent filler material placed in the wrong plane is a problem that lasts as long as the patient does, and it can usually only be improved surgically. Practicing inside a tertiary general hospital means the operating room, anaesthesiology and intensive care are already in the same building when that correction is needed.

Yongbo Jia, MD

Yongbo Jia, MD (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Dermatology · skin health before and after injectables

Dr. Yongbo Jia is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its dermatology service at Chongqing West District Hospital. A vice chief physician and licensed aesthetic attending, he graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and trained in dermatology at the Institute of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and at Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Within the injectable service he manages the skin itself: inflammatory and pigment conditions that must be diagnosed and treated before any injectable, and the barrier and texture care that decides how long a result reads well. Injecting into skin with active disease is one of the avoidable causes of a poor outcome.

Clinical focus

  • Comprehensive pigment management: melasma, freckles, sun spots, café-au-lait, and age spots
  • Preoperative skin assessment and postoperative scar and pigment care
  • Hair and scalp conditions, including hair loss and hair transplantation
  • Aesthetic excision of superficial moles, cysts, and haemangiomas; refined cosmetic stitching
  • Repair of appearance-damaging skin conditions

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Jiusan Society
  • Member, Chongqing Integrative Medicine Skin & Beauty Committee
  • Advanced training at the Institute of Dermatology (Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences) and Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Diagnosis first

Most treatment failures in dermatology trace back to a missed diagnosis or an abandoned routine. The same is true before an injectable: skin that is inflamed, infected or undiagnosed should be treated first, not injected around.
